Foyer Floor

Tile prep is starting on the first floor, beginning with the west end of the house. Here you can see the mud job installation in progress in the foyer. The cement mortar goes right over the hydronic radiant tubes. A 3-mm thick polyethylene mat will be installed on top of the mud job to prevent tile cracking and to reduce water vapor build-up below. The stone tile will be installed on top of the mat using the thin set method, hopefully next week so the space can be cleared to allow the metalworkers to install the main stairs.
