A good chunk of the site work at the front of the house got done over the last two weeks. Here you can see the preparation for the pouring of the concrete at the front walk and parking court.

Note the rigid insulation board below the rebar and the pex tubing on top of and fastened to it. Glycol at temperatures between 110 and 140 degrees will be pumped through the tubing to raise the temperature of the granite pavers just enough to keep snow from accumulating.

The last step, on Friday, was to place PVC pipe in a 2' x 2' grid pattern through holes cut in the insulation board, just like was done with the terrace and pool patio, to form weep holes for rainwater in the slab. The team used a pump truck so the cement mixers could be positioned off the street and finished pouring late in the day. On Saturday, the forms were stripped and the slab was prepped so the masons can begin to install the granite pavers and step treads this week.

This whole process needs to be repeated again and again for the driveway, the walkway and steps to the kitchen entrance, and for the BBQ patio by the rear porch.
